  15. <p>     SENTENCED. JAMES PORTER, 58, former Catholic priest; to 18 to
  16. 20 years for sexually assaulting 28 children while serving as
  17. a priest 30 years ago; in New Bedford, Massachusetts. At his
  18. sentencing, 22 victims described the remarkably similar consequences
  19. they suffered as a result of Porter's crimes: substance abuse,
  20. depression, difficulty relating to others, joblessness and loss
  21. of faith. "How sorry I am to all the people that I have offended,"
  22. said Porter. He will be eligible for parole in six years.
